Earth For Energy Review – Is Michael Harvey Ebook The Real Deal?

One of the most popular home renewable energy guides on the internet right now is Michael Harvey’ Earth For Energy (Earth4Energy). It is selling by the thousands of copies every month.

What is the reason behind its popularity?

Many home owners are concern about rising energy cost. Apart from our bank mortgage, our electricity bill is one of the largest household expenses. To reduce energy consumption, many people are looking into solar power to supplement their electricity needs.

However, a home solar system installed by a professional contractor is very expensive. We are talking about the range of $30,000 and above depending on your current home energy consumption. The time it takes to recover your investment can range from 20 to 30 years!

As a cheaper alternative, many home owners are setting up a home solar system via a Do It Yourself (DIY) approach.

How much would it cost to install a DIY solar system?

A realistic figure is about $1000 to $2000. The major components are the solar panel, charge controller, circuit breaker box, meter gauges, battery bank and power inverter.

The system would not be able to power all of your electrical appliances, but it will handle most of it. It can also be used to power all of your room lighting fixtures.

To reduce your cost even further, you can make your own solar panel. This is where the Earth4Energy e-book will come in handy.

The manual basically shows you how to make a solar panel with step by step instruction. The budget you’ll need to set aside is roughly $150. A typical homemade solar panel consists of 36 pieces of 3” x 6” Photovoltaic (PV) cells.

By soldering all the solar cells together, it is capable of generating 18 volts and approximately 75 watts of electricity under direct sunlight. The power generated is capable of charging a 12 volt deep cycle battery.

So is Michael Harvey’s Earth 4 Energy worth the investment?

Personally, I think it is a good buy. I bought my copy about a year ago. Back then, what I received was only 2 pdf files and a couple of videos.

Since then, they have added a few more instructional videos in the members’ area. The videos are step by step instruction of how to make a solar panel recorded in High Definition (HD). I was really impressed by the quality.

If you are thinking of setting up your own home solar power system and you don’t want to spend too much money, check out the Earth4Energy guide.

Michael Harvey Earth4Energy – Is He Real?

One of the very first e-book on home renewable energy guide is Michael Harvey’s Earth4Energy. I had that manual for more than a year now.

All this while I have been wondering, is Michael Harvey a real person?

That question came about when I was reading Seth Godin’s All Marketers Are Liars book. That’s a great title isn’t it? It worked because the title of the book got my attention.

In the book, Seth talks about the power of storytelling in a low-trust world such as the internet. Selling on the world wide web is very different from selling in a retail store. There are too many choices, too many noise and minimal human interaction. It is very hard for a web site to build trust.

To be successful selling on the web, you must be able to tell a good story about your product or service. In fact, we as a consumer want to listen to a story about the product or service before we make our decision.

That lead me back to Michael Harvey of Earth4Energy. According to the www.earth4energy.com web site, Michael is a renewable energy enthusiast and a co-founder.

The story was, Michael found a way to make a low cost home solar power system that managed to reduce his home electricity bill. He actually wrote the Earth4Energy manual together with his good friend Mark.

Michael’s idea was also tested on 43 solar newbies and they managed to build a solar panel which is capable of generating electricity to power some of their electrical appliances at home.

It is a good story no doubt, but is the story teller real?

When I was pondering that question, I came to realize one thing…do I really care whether Michael Harvey is real or not?

Well, actually I couldn’t care less.

When I first decided to buy a copy of Earth4Energy, what I really wanted was the content in the manual. I had a problem back then because I was paying a lot of money for electricity at home. I wanted to know if I can reduce my home power consumption by using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.

The truth is, I really don’t care how they market or package the e-book. As long as I get some value out of it, I am happy. I am sure other people will feel otherwise.

If you are having the same problem of high home energy cost and you are looking for ways to supplement your energy needs with solar or wind power, check out the Earth4Energy guide. They told a very good story.

Comparing Earth 4 Energy With Green DIY Energy

Earth 4 Energy by Michael Harvey is one of the first residential renewable energy guides that I bought. The second one is Green DIY Energy from www.greendiyenergy.com.

Are there any differences between Earth 4 Energy versus Green DIY Energy?

As a matter of fact, there are.

High Definition (HD) Instructional Videos

Earth 4 Energy Intro Video

When I first bought my copy of Earth4Energy last year, there are 3 instructional videos that you can download from the members’ area. To be honest, the video quality isn’t much to talk about.

When I purchased Green DIY Energy in March 2009, there was a total of 6 High Definition (HD) step by step instructional videos on how to build your own DIY solar panel. I was pretty impressed with the videos quality.

Lately, I decided to have a look in the Earth 4 Energy members’ area. They have just uploaded 7 new videos. They videos were professionally done with lots of animation, cut scenes and great background music.

I am not familiar with the video recording industry, but from the looks of the videos released by Earth 4 Energy, it would have cost at least $50,000 to make!

The Distinct Differences

Green DIY Energy Instructional Video

After viewing all the videos from Earth 4 Energy and Green DIY Energy, there are some distinct differences.

Firstly, the videos from Earth 4 Energy give you the “big picture” of a home solar power system.

Watching the videos reminds me of being in a high school science class learning about electricity…but with lots of visual simulation.

It shows you the macro aspect of a residential solar power system.

The videos from Green DIY Energy are more detailed. You actually learn step by step how to solder Photovoltaic (PV) cells together, lined them up into strings, wired them together and test it with a multi-meter.

It is the micro aspect of a home solar power system.

If you were to combine all the videos together, it will be a great learning package. You get to learn how a home solar power system works, and then have detailed instructions on how to make a solar panel. I am looking forward to see the video series to make a home wind generator.
